Google Checkout – Not good for affiliates yet

I have had email confirmation today that sales made via Google Checkout are not being tracked, albeit for the short term.

I asked a merchant on Affiliate Window and one on TradeDoubler.

“Unfortunately at present affiliate sales are not being tracked when customers use Google Checkout – but I am hopeful this will be resolved within the next few days.”

Google need to contact the affiliate networks to approve them as a tracking provider. I don’t know what the terms or requirements are of that.

Currently, customers are being incentivised to use Google Checkout. Until 20th June they’ll receive a £10 discount for orders over £30. I’ve been told that affiliates will still receive commission on the full sale amount and not the discounted price, when tracking goes ahead.

I don’t know if this is the case for all merchants or networks.
Affiliate Window and TradeDoubler are two of the networks not being tracked so far. I gather that there’s an approved list that all approved sites can access.

As for merchants, ebuyer.com (which are closing on TradeDoubler) sent out a mail shot just to promote the £10 discount, which got passed onto me.

As ebuyer are leaving the network shortly I don’t know if they’re typical of the merchants I promote and if GC will become the norm.

I’m happy to promote the £10 customer discount. Here’s a page I made for Gadgets.co.uk. It’s a good offer. You receive a £10 discount if you spend £30. Though, I’d like to know when or if we will get commission for sales made.

Dixons voucher codes case study – Result!?

Well would you believe it? Firstly, let me remind you that my Shop Codes Dixons page was on Page 25 of Google’s results a few weeks ago. I documented it 13 days ago on this site. This was particularly hurting, as i) my site Shop Codes specialises in voucher codes and ii) I did and do have Dixons voucher codes to provide. In March it was the £30 discount code. Today, it’s the £50 code if you spend over £999.

Anyway, I wanted to chart in this blog how my page would improve or even fall further. What became clear over the last few days was this blog became more popular than my intended destination page. That was OK, as I received my first comment for this blog.

Now today, I’ve just performed a search for “dixons voucher codes” and my site is listed in the top two positions. The first is the home page with a cached date of 2 April 2007. The second is the page with the Dixons codes on. I’ve taken a screengrab, as there’s only way I can go now and that’s back down.

I am also aware that I may be the only person in the World to see my sites top of the Google listings. That’s because Google knows from my search history that I visit Shop Codes a lot and so it gives it a bump or too. Or something like that. Either way I was still on Page 25 a few weeks back.

Sweet?
